Rotoworld is reporting that Adam Dunn has been traded to the Diamondbacks for prospects. MLB.com is saying that Dunn has been claimed off waivers and that a deal is close.

Here is the rotoworld.com blurb:

KTAR 620 in Arizona reports that the Diamondbacks have acquired Adam Dunn from the Reds for three prospects.

According to the radio station, the Reds will receive pitching prospect Dallas Buck and two players to be named later. A 2006 third-round pick who returned from Tommy John surgery in June, Buck has a 3.55 ERA and 28/11 K/BB ratio in 50 2/3 innings at Single-A. MLB.com confirms that the Diamondbacks have claimed Dunn off waivers, but reports only that the two sides "are close to working out a deal" for the impending free agent. Dunn is hitting .233/.373/.528 with an NL-leading 32 homers and figures to start in right field until Justin Upton returns, at which point he may shift to left field while Conor Jackson moves back to first base.

Dammit, I posted this in the wrong forum, was meant to go in Around the Majors, not the Yankee forum.

Yeah, you had me a bit worried / pissed when I saw this in the Yankees forum, until learning that it was the Dbacks. smile.gif

Seems like a no-brainer for the D-Backs. They had to make this move with a certain stick going to a close NL West rival. The move makes more sense now with Hudson going down. The NL West gets more interesting every day.

Does anyone know anything about the kids the Reds got? I am very interested because I would of been content giving up Bowden for him.

Dallas Buck was first round talent who dropped out of the first round because of TJ surgery. Other two are PTBNL.

Bowden > Buck at this point, but PTBNL could be significant draft picks from this season. Remember, Cincy would have gotten two big supplemental picks for letting him walk, so they must be getting something else significant in return other than Buck.

Interesting...just saw over the crawl on ESPN that Micah Owings is one of the PTBNL (though he must clear waivers first if he's to join the Reds this year).
