RedSoxAnni
Game time: 7:05 pm

Scheduled starters: Scott Feldman (4-5, 4.82) v. Charlie Zink (NR)

The game will be on NESN.

Boston weather: 4 pm observation at KBOS: wind out of the northwest at 9 mph, visibility 10 miles, few clouds at 3,700 feet, scattered clouds at 8,500 feet, broken layer at 25,000 feet, temperature 73F, DP 57F

Forecast: Unstable... The low is off the coast now, but there's still considerable instability behind it. The rain has stopped in the Boston area, but there are some showers and thunderstorms building on the east side of the hills of western NE. The nearest rain is just outside I495 at 4:30 pm. These are not likely to be violent storms, but they could dump a lot of water in a short time. They are widely scattered, so a lot of the area won't see any rain, but some areas could get some heavy rain.

They will play this game, but there could be a rain delay.

The wind will be blowing out toward left center.

Anyone know if Zink, like Wakefield, prefers the wind blowing out?

Not just outs, strikeouts. He's like the new Jason Bay. Useless.
SirFozzie
Lowrie with three doubles in two innings.

Can we do an anti-rain dance? Only until five full are complete. Would be nice to rest the bullpen smile.gif

I've got a pretty good view of the sky from my apartment. Knock on wood, it doesn't look like it'll be raining for very long.
Jack Hayden
I wanna see this one go 9 innings just to see what sort of sick numbers Ortiz can get.

Just as long as it isn't like the storm that Wrigley had last week.

Tornado Warnings are FUN! (look at the rain, for gosh sake)
Jack Hayden
Are they leaving Feldman in to pitch to Ortiz again?
DesertDirtDog
I guess another 3 run jack was asking for too much?! rolleyes.gif

Obviously, Ortiz's wrist is hurting and he needs to go on the DL, it's affecting his game rolleyes.gif
DesertDirtDog
Now they pull him! We don't want this to get out of hand! thumbsup.gif

90 pitches in 2 2/3rd innings. Infreakingsane.

Guess they decided they didn't want to kill his ego any further.. who knows, he could have 13 runs charged against him.
BigSlick
I've got Bob Zupcic as the trivia answer.
DesertDirtDog
I'm starting to love JD leading off! thumbsup.gif

If he had any protection in the lineup, he would have hit another one.

Not with Kevin YouKilis on deck.
SirFozzie
Damn. So much for saving the bullpen.
DesertDirtDog
Is someone up in the pen?
Jack Hayden
Lopez is warming up.
DesertDirtDog
So 4 more runs and Lopez comes in??!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!????????????????@QW@D>?

I'm kinda surprised that Tito didn't let Zink try to limp out of the 5th so he could get the W.
DesertDirtDog
My grandmother has been dead for 10 years and she could have got the W
BigSlick
Well this game sucks.
rominer
Good God. I hope Ortiz has a couple more 3 run HRs in him tonight.
Jack Hayden
Sweet lord. I'm going to the bar for the rest of this game.
SirFozzie
Gah. 12-10???

****!!!!!! Fangraphs.com had Sox winning at 99-100% and now is down to around close to 75%! banghead.gif
DesertDirtDog
Can Papi pitch??!

Got to head home from work... I'm afraid to turn the game on when I get there!
DominusNovus
What was the fan interference?
SirFozzie
Papi close to HR #3, and Youkilis hits a two run jack. 14-10!

Someone test the balls please? Has Fenway park become Coors Park East?
SirFozzie
yee gods and little deities, can anyone pitch?
BigSlick
I need drugs 14-13

Edit 14-14
CTLovesTheSox
Has a team ever been up 10-0 after the 1st and lost?

This is pathetic.
DominusNovus
How has this become a 1 run game? Seriously?

Is it just a hitters night? Something about the wind and moisture or something?
MFLetou
I freeze framed it--that 14th run shouldn't have counted, he was out.

But I digress. I'm watching the Olympics as these steaming piles of feces aren't worth it.
Todd Lazarchick
Seriously this is horrible, we absolutely suck ass!Delcarmen ****ing sucks! Every damn time he goes out there he gives up runs. We ought to blow up our bullpen and start all over. We are horrible.

Since July 13th Delcarmen has given up 4 earned runs in 11 appearances, including 7 straight without allowing a run from 7/23 to 8/6.
Leephus Pitch
When the team is eliminated from playoff contention in September, they'll remember this travesty as a major reason for it.
CTLovesTheSox
Wow, the ledge sure got full in a hurry.

Do you really expect any rational posts during this clusterfuc* of a game?

You think this is a playoff team? With THAT bullpen?
Todd Lazarchick
I seriously dont get this team. This is probably the most inconsistant RedSox team ive seen in a while. How many one run games have we lost as of late. We cant hit when we need to hit. We cant get a batter out when we REALLY need to. We score 10 runs in one in and then 4 over the next 6. We give up 2 runs and then 8 and 5 back to back. Its rediculous!

I never said whether or not they were a playoff team. I was pointing out the doomsday analysis going on here right now.

Last I checked, they led the wild card. and regardless of tonight, they will still lead the wild card. I'm not exactly ready to pull the plug.
GreenBud
Horrible.
