Game time: 7:05 pm

Scheduled starters: Roy Halladay (13-9, 2.72) v. Paul Byrd (7-10, 4.53)

The game will be on NESN.

Boston weather: 4 pm observation at KBOS: wind out of the east at 10 mph, visibility 6 miles in haze, few clouds at 5,000 feet, broken layers at 14,000 and 23,000 feet, temperature 70F, DP 63F

Forecast: Rain likely. At 4 pm, there was a line of storms approaching Boston from the southwest, with thunderstorms reported at Norwood (KOWD). These storms are ahead of a cold front that will cross the area later tonight. Some could produce heavy rain and possibly small hail.

They will likely play the game, but rain is a possibility.

The wind is blowing in now, but should be southwest, or blowing out toward left, by later in the evening.

Looks like Tito is getting into a postseason frame of mind with that lineup. thumbsup.gif

No announcement yet, but I don't think they will start this game on time.

KBOS weather at 6 pm: Wind out of the southeast at 5 mph, visibility 2.5 miles in rain, fog, and mist, few clouds at 600 feet, overcast at 2,500 feet, temperature 67F, D) 65F

It looks like this rain will slide to the northeast, with the bulk of the rain staying west of Fenway Park. I think they might be able to start around 8 pm.

Yeah that's a great looking lineup with as good a lefty-righty alternation as they can get. And Varitek is rightfully in the 9-spot. I also like Lowrie backing up Bay, and Casey backing up Lowrie. Hopefully Ellsbury's (I guess his butt is feeling better) past success against Halladay will continue and give him some confidence as a leadoff hitter.
Go Paul Byrd!

We are officially in a rain delay.

7 pm weather at KBOS: Wind out of the west at 5 mph, visibility 6 miles in rain, fog, and mist, few clouds at 3,100 feet, scattered clouds at 4,500 feet, overcast at 10,000 feet, temperature 66F, DP 62F.

There's still a good bit of rain out there. It does look like the heaviest rain will track off to the west of Fenway, but there's still some heavy rain on its way.

This could be a long night.

While watching LLWS on ESPN it said PPD for RedSox ( bottom screen score ticker ) so it sounds like its called off ?

On ESPN.com it also says its postponed. So I'm guessing there will be a day-night double-header tomorrow.

Red Sox web site says PPD, with a Sept. 13 make-up date.

The weather does not look good for tomorrow during the day, so that's most likely why they won't try to play two tomorrow.
