John Lott - Boston's Bay blacked out from sister's softball; Canada's Ace Pitcher

BOSTON - These days, Jason Bay misses the CBC. But he definitely does not miss Pittsburgh.

By night, the former Pirate plays left field for the Boston Red Sox, in the spot where Manny Ramirez wore out his welcome. The next morning he checks the Internet to find out how the Canadian Women's softball team fared at the Olympics.

He has more than a rooting interest. His sister, Lauren Bay-Regula, is Canada's ace pitcher. He is 29; she is 27. He is right-handed; she's a lefty. They hail from Trail, B. C., and both are bidding for a world championship.

"I don't get any coverage down here," Bay said in the Boston clubhouse yesterday afternoon. "If it was on CBC or something, I'd love to [watch], but we don't. There's nothing we can do to watch it. It kind of drives me nuts."
