Bingo. No chemistry, no hitting, no heart. All I could think about tonight was the Chicago series.

Sad thing is, this squad is way better. But then again when you drop the last 9 out of 10 to NY, nothing surprises me.

This team is bipolar as ****.

How do you know there is no chemistry? I'm just curious. And wtf benefit does "good chemistry" do for a baseball team? Does it make them younger? Does it improve bat speed? Does it add mph to a fastball? Help a pitcher get a curve ball over the plate?

I think the biggest problem this team has is that two of it's once key offensive contributors have grown old and are no longer much of a threat. Mike Lowell and David Ortiz cannot hit good pitching at this point in their careers. Consequently, the Sox lineup now has multiple holes...and it's not good that at least one of those is generally right in the heart of the order.

Hey this stuff happens all the time. It's a fine line between keeping key players too long and just long enough. Clearly the front office understood that they needed to add a big bat to the lineup and that is why they pursued Douche Face Teixeira so aggressively in the off season.

Ultimately, the blame for the inconsistency of the offensive falls squarely at the feet of ownership. They lost Teixeira to the Yankees for one of two reasons; 1) They decided they couldn't afford to go higher than their final offer or 2)they mistakenly thought Boras was bluffing.

If it's the latter, then, as hard as that is to take, these things happen in negotiations. If it is the former, then that is completely unacceptable since these dipshits are draining every last dollar from their willing fan base. That's good business but don't cry that you can't compete financially with the Yankees on a particular player when you have been handed a license to print money.

Sure would have been nice having Mark Teixeira in the lineup tonight.

Oh...wait...that's right.

Get over it. His wife didn't like Newbury Street.

That's a very good point, especially for Ortiz. The press made a point of how Ortiz rebounded from his abymsal start to have a good second half, but it always seemed to me most of his homers and RBI came off the middle inning relievers, while he seemed just overmatched by front line starters and closers. I have no stats to back that up; its just my perception. Certainly when the opposing starter goes into the 8th inning against the Red Sox, it is bad news because there are going to be more than a couple of guys in the line up (Ortiz, Lowell, A-Gon, Tek if he's playing) who are going to be O-fer to that point.
The last couple of days has me wondering if the FO needs to do some tinkering in the off season or just blow it up and start over.
That's how bad the offense has been.

No chemistry? Basic observation. Any of the things you mentioned - NO.

Chemistry compared to 04, 07, and even 08 - not even close. Chemistry is dictated on ones observations and is interpreted depending on the fan, so it is what it is. But IMO, we had JACK.
