Game time: 7:05 pm EDT

Scheduled starters: Boof Bonser (7-12, 5.09) v. Josh Beckett (20-6, 3.14)

The game will be on NESN.

Boston weather:

1 pm observation at KBOS: Wind out of the south at 13 mph, visibility 7 miles, few clouds at 15,000 feet, broken layer at 25,000 feet, temperature 82F, DP 67 F

Forecast: We've got a frontal boundary setting in west of the Merrimack River, from north of Manchester extending to the SW. We've also got a moist, relatively unstable air mass ahead of the approaching cold front. We shouldn't be surprised if there's some convective activity into the afternoon. There's a chance for a couple brief, but possibly heavy, rainshowers or thunderstorms later in the afternoon, and there's a good possibility for some rain later in the evening ahead of the front. So be prepared for rain if you're going to the game. I don't think that there will be enough rain to cancel the game, but there could be a rain delay.

It'll be warm and humid, possibly still near 80F at game time, with the wind out of the south at less than 15 mph except in thunderstorms, but they won't be playing in thunderstorms. The wind will be blowing right to left.

I like our chances a lot. Great match-up for us. Kazmir going against a hungover MFY crowd. Finish it now and rest over the weekend. This can be done. It will be done. Do it!

Boof Bonser, eh?

Based on the name alone, I think we've got this one.

Let's do it tonight and relax for a few days. The SOX don't usually make it easy though. I hope we are not nervous wrecks on Sunday afternoon!!

I am really happy with the way the game between the sox and the Twins, and the game between Tampa Bay and the Yanks are stacked. It's all in favor of us clinching the AL East division tonight! At least that's what I am hoping for.

Let's keep being in Fenway through the playoffs in mind.

It's these games with the seemingly 'favorable' matchups that tend to give us trouble. Let's take care of business, get that number down to 1, and see what happens with TB/NY.

Well, I'm gonna be out in Ashland, MA, this weekend, without much access to NESN (or booze). So, it'd be real nice if they clinched tonight and I could celebrate in Boston.

What would you think if I sang out of tune,
Would you stand up and walk out on me?
Lend me your ears and I'll sing you a song
And I'll try not to sing out of key.

Oh, I get by with a little help from my friends
Mm, I get high with a little help from my friends
Mm, gonna try with a little help from my friends

Did NESN freeze up for anyone else during that Ortiz double? Dunno if that was NESN's fault, or Northeastern University's cable provider.

Also, Bonser actually legally changed his name from John Paul to Boof. Wow.
