D'oh. If true, how dumb is Palmeiro to get caught in this day of increased scutiny.

This day of increased scrutiny? I had thought that the day of increased scrutiny was back in Spring Training, and that there were only occasional random tests now.
A whole bunch of players who tanked early in the season have made remarkable comebacks: Giambi tops the list, and Sheffield is another; both were alleged to have used steroids previously. It appears to me that a whole bunch of players were gambling that they wouldn't get caught. Now that a big name has apparently been caught, let's see the impact.

Absolutely shocking. How stupid does he have to be to continue to use after being outed in Jose's book and being called before Congress. Not to mention the fact that he knows MLB is taking it more seriously. What an idiot, now the only way he gets into Cooperstown is if he buys a ticket.
Hall of Fame? Barry Bonds might still make it with his stats, but Palmeiro...this is really going to dent his chances for as long as BBWAA members remember the steroid scandal. Palmeiro may not make the HOF in his lifetime.
By the way, speaking of Jose's book, wasn't there a pitcher who used to be on the Red Sox who was alleged by Canseco to have used steroids, too? :eyes
