Game time: 7:10 pm

Scheduled starters: Roy Halladay (16-10, 2.90) v. Tim Wakefield (11-4, 4.33)

The game will be on NESN and WEEI

Boston weather: 5 pm observation at KBOS: Wind out of the west at 14 mph with gusts to 24 mph, visibility 9 miles, broken layers at 4,200 feet, 8,000 feet, and 12,000 feet, temperature 56F, DP 41F

Forecast: It will be in the low 50s tonight. There is a slight chance of light showers during the evening, but most likely it will be dry. The wind will be blowing out toward left center.

And now that we've backed into the wild card it's time to win a baseball game.

Fortunately, tonight's opposing starter is a bum. This one should be easy.

Is there anything gayer than games during the week between the clinching and the start of the playoffs?

I would have been very annoyed if I had paid to see that game. There should be some rule that you have to have at least four legitimate Major Leaguers in a starting lineup.

I caught a little of the game on the radio during my lunch break. At one point, Castiglione said "Facing Halliday will be Woodward, Gathright and Reddick" and I thought I had the wrong station.
It's like the scene in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid where one of them screams "who are these guys???"
