Terrible outing by Paplebon. And he was the one reliever that I had full confidence in!

I think this Angels team has a very good chance against the Yankees.

Wow, just one of the most brutal postseason eliminations ever. I don't think I care to watch any of the rest of the playoffs at this point.

If you consider the two inherited runners who scored on the single by Rivera, Papelbon was responsible for five runs in 1 1/3 innings. Not good...

This. Okajima did what Pap had a dozen chances to do, with 2 pitches.

I'm so glad that I'm out in California this week for work. I can't believe I'm already catching shit from all these brand new 'die hard' Angels fans in the Bay Area.

So, I couldn't catch the game (and I guess that's a good thing) this morning, what the hell happened in the 9th? Did he not locate pitches? Did the Angels just hit well thrown balls? How in the hell did they score 3 in the 9th?

I know that shit happens and great pitchers get beat sometimes, but there's a difference between a bloop that breaks a tie in a tight game and a closer who comes in with a 3 run lead and allows five to come home over two innings. He had the Angels down to their last strike 3 times, and couldn't finish the job. It's not like he was facing the '27 Yankees either, he let Erick Aybar and Chode Figgins extend the game for him.

He was lights out for a few years, and I'm glad he helped us win it in 07, but the last two seasons he just hasn't been the same. That game he blew to Dan Johnson completely turned the tide of the 2008 AL East race, he almost never seemed to have a clean inning this year, that Mets game he blew to Omir Santos this year was still one of the most frustrating moments of this season, and then he pulls this one off today. Plus there's the whole contract situation and him always shooting his mouth off.

Give Danny Bard the ball in 2010, deal Papelbon while we can get something for him in the offseason.

He was overthrowing the ball when it got to two strikes, missing his target until it got to a count where he had to throw a strike, and at that point it was right down the middle and they just tagged him. Hard contact on all the hits, Figgins with a shot up the middle, Abreu smoked it off the monster, and Guererro hit it into CF. They weren't fluke bloops at all, he flat out got destroyed.
