In all seriousness, it's tough to look at George through the eyes of lifelong Yankees fans when you're a lifelong Red Sox fan. One thing I will always remember about George was his participation in the annual Jimmy Fund/Red Sox Foundation event. He had no problem putting the baseball/business stuff aside and made contributions to his enemy's favorite cause. Otherwise, he ran a baseball club that gave the city and it's fans what he thought they deserved.

If CC Slobbathia gets hurt jamming McNuggets down his piehole, the NYY are ski-rewed. they may get to the playoffs, but unless Mo is going to start and finish three games or AROD can get to 700 HR's they are in trouble. Also, their vaunted lineup from top to bottom if you are blind to names (i.e. Jeter/AROD/Teieieiexera/Pussada are not exaclty tearing the cover off the ball - I realize they have a lot of thump. Also, key pick up Granderson is looking a little like Darnell McDonald, minus forty points on his BA.

That was my initial reaction too, but then I thought about it a little bit and if I'm his agent, I'm going to tell him to react the way he did. If Lee doesn't want to play for the Yankees and he comes out and says so publicly, he loses a lot of financial leverage in negotiation with other teams. When the shadow of the Yankees looms over a player, competing teams will almost always offer more than they plan because they feel pressured to do so.

That's not to mention the fact that they can squeeze more money out of the Yankees. All they need to do is remind them that he may be apprehensive about playing there because of how his wife was treated. I'm sure that will come up in negotiations. Could get him an extra year or an extra couple million.
