Were they like the Nationals last night, who waited until the last minute to announce Strasberg wasn't starting so they wouldn't hurt their walk up sales?

I think having a day game on the one day of the week when everybody in Southern California actually goes to work, coupled with losing the first two games and falling 8 1/2 games back (and 11 back in the Wild Card) might have some sort of negative effect on walkup sales.

According to Peter Abraham on boston.com:

Piniero strained his left oblique (rib-cage muscle) while warming up. Shields is is 2-5 with a 6.81 ERA against the Sox in his career in the regular season.

Joe Castig said that Pineiro was warming up 10 minutes before the game and then Pineiro started warming in a hurry, so it doesn't appear to be anything more than a last-minute scratch.
