I'm sure that most of you by now have seen last night's Jeter facade, where he danced around in pain, much like a Spanish soccer player, pretending he had been hit by a pitch in a key part of a big game. This was not, in my opinion, an example of a classy player.

In the context of it being Derek Jeter, who leans over like he's going to fall on his face anytime a strike is out beyond the inner 6 inches of the plate, so as to sell the ump on the idea that the pitch was a foot outside, and leans back like he's doing the limbo anytime a strike is on the inner 6 inches of the plate so as to sell the ump on the idea that the pitch was a threat to his life...I didn't think what he did was any more or less dramatic than I would have expected from him.

And it worked.

I think any criticism has to start with the umpires who were oblivious enough to fall for it.

I like the TB announcer. "You missed the call and you throw Joe out, that's big of ya."

That's only borderline "cheating", and I have no problem with it. You gotta do whatever you can to get an advantage for your team.

Yeah, as much as I hate to say it, I don't have a big issue with what Jeter did here. The umpire being an incompetent moron is an entirely different matter.

Misleading thread title, I assumed it was posing in front of a mirror, cheating on AROD's wife with the corpse of Madonna, or deciding not to hit after 7/31.

I saw DJ miss a lazy line drive that he "jumped" for. I thought he was either wearing cement cleats or there was an imbalnce in earth's gravitational pull at that very instant. He looked like the effort would have had him jump out of the stadium, yet his feet stayed on the ground.

Retire, grandpa.

Remember the Tampa Bay game last season when the ball hit the bottom of the bat and he fell over like it hit him on the hand? He's a good baseball player. No other way around it.
