Here they are:
P Mark Buehrle
C Joe Mauer
1B Mark Teixeira
2B Robinson Cano
3B Evan Longoria
SS Derek Jeter
OF Ichiro Suzuki
OF Fr. Gutierrez
OF Carl Crawford
Not terrible, but I'll go ahead and blast the choice of all three of the Yankees. First of all, Daric Barton should have won for 1B. Not even an argument for anybody else as far as I'm concerned. Secondly, Cano is not a terrible choice, but I can think of at least 4 better (Ellis, Hudson, Hill and Kinsler). Jeter?? Ugh! Seriously? Can anybody in there right mind actually say with a straight face that Derek Jeter is a better defensive shortstop than Alexei Ramirez or Elvis Andrus? Heck, can you even say that he's any better than Marco Scutaro??
Mauer I don't have a problem with. At 3B you could make a case for Beltre or Kouzmanoff, but Longoria will now get this award for the next 10 years. Buehrle is locked in there as well, a la Greg Maddox.
The outfield I don't have a tremendous issue with. However, ironically they could have easily added another Yankee in there with Brett Gardner. You could also make a case for Juan Pierre or Josh Hamilton (kind of surprised they didn't go with Hamilton).

Jeter is still hobblong over to his computer to read the announcement. Good God, I actually have come full circle on Jeter, I like the guy, but he plays as if his spikes are made of led. He's 63 years old and doesn't belong in the middle of the infield.

That's my user name over at Up On The Monster.
This just pretty much proves that the voters don't know the difference between the gold glove and a sort of career achievement-weighted silver slugger for the infield positions. What are the odds that the best hitter at every position (at least when they were younger) is the best defensive player? Pretty much impossible. Yet here are your trophies, boys!

Personally, I think Derek Jeter was a great choice.
I think when a guy can have an off year at the plate but still manage to give you gold glove defense at shortstop, that's the kind of player you want to lock up for 5 years/$100 million. The Yankees are a lucky team.

That's where you're all wrong. What matters isn't his performance at the plate or on the field. What matters is proven winner, calm eyes, clubhouse presence, just knows how to win, JoeMorgangasm. That's worth at least 8/200 million.

You know it's bad when even a NY writer on I think the NY Daily News is pointing out he didn't deserve the award.
