The AP and Jon Heyman of SI.com are both reporting that Cliff Lee has reached an agreement with the Phillies.Suck on that Yankee fans.

Quote

Cliff Lee is headed back to the Philadelphia Phillies.

Lee turned down more lucrative offers from the New York Yankees and the Texas Rangers to return to the team he helped pitch into the World Series in 2009.

Looks AJ Burnett is going to be critical to your success this season.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The path to the World Series may have gotten easier, but winning the World Series is now more challenging. That will be one of the best rotations in baseball.

I know this is jumping the gun a bit (ok, a lot) but if both teams are able to make the World Series and set their rotations how they want them, game 3 could be Beckett vs Oswalt. That's just sick.

This has been the most shocking offseason ever, easily.

I really, really, really hope Andy Pettite retires now. Come on home to Texas, where the steroids grow on trees and nobody cares if you are as dumb as a rock, because they are too. Come on home, Andy.

Pettitte is now an absolute, iron-clad, guaranteed part of the Yankees rotation for 2011. Just like Cliff Lee was.

It would be even sicker if the game was in Philly, where Josh Beckett has a 1.987 OPS with 17 career HR.

It's a good day to be a Red Sox and a Phillies fan. Good thing I'm both (and no, I'm not a bandwagon Phillies fan... I've followed them since their sucktastic days at the Vet).

Should make for some interesting conversation during Christmas with my Yankee fan in-laws.

Those stats may be exaggerated, but I've been there to see him hit 2HR's. I didn't catch either one of them though.

Edit: Dibs on using StuckInChiTown's post as a sig.

Obvy.

I think we would have heard about it by now if you had.

The more I think about it this is actually a good point in spite of the inflated stats. IF they do meet, where Beckett falls in the rotation will likely depend on who has home field advantage. Of course there's still 10.5 months to go before that needs to be thought about, but the way the offseason has gone, I can't help myself.

I have seen yankee fans say they will go get Carpenter or Felix, without giving up Montero, which i thought was an SUV, but is apparently a catcher who can't catch but can hit. I thought they had him and his name was George Pussada.

I love how the MFY fans feel like the best is owed to them and how dare they sign with another team.

What I take away from all of this is that I should get a Yankees hat for Christmas, and then go around spitting on people while wearing my new present.

i was thrilled when I heard this early this morning (that Cliff signed with the Phills). I immediately thought of the Phills - Sox series in Philly in late may (I might go to a game in that series) and how the girl i'm seeing (who has the incredible misfortune of being a yankee fan) is going to get quite razzing from me when I see her later this week.

If you really want to piss off a Yankees fan, tell him that the Yankees could have made Lee an offer he couldn't refuse if they hadn't wasted so much money on a washed up shortstop.

Looks like VASoxFan won't be getting laid anytime soon. At least DWO will have someone to commiserate with. :tongue

I'm not familiar with all the terms, but I imagine "razzing" is some form of BDSM that I've yet to be exposed to. Do they have that on the internet?
