What's the over/under before we hear that Pettite will "un-retire" and pitch the second half of the season for the Yankees? I'm saying May 15th. That is unless of course, he doesn't sign for the whole season.

Do you expect Pettitte to retire and stay retired for the entire 2011 season?

I'd be surprised if we didn't see either Santana or Zambrano in pinstripes this year.

I also doubt Buchholz will have a 2.33 ERA again, but I'd still be willing to bet that at the end of the year you can add his ERA and Lester's ERA and come up with a number lower than 6.50.

Honestly, I'll take the over on that. I hope I'm wrong.

Can you imagine the stack of plates if CC Sabathia, Bartolo Colon, Joba Chamberlain, and Carlos Zambrano went out to dinner together?

Jenga!

F*ck you. It's February 3rd. As of right now they are both going 32-0 with 0.23 ERA's.

Is there one that you are more concerned about than the other?

I just think expecting a 3.25 ERA from them is pretty lofty. Yes, I know they both did it last year but they both had great years. I just wouldn't expect it.

No, f**k YOU. They are EACH going 32-0. Not both. There's no way that either of them wins as few as 16 games. Even if they spend half the season on the DL, they're both going to win 20.

Ok, so of course the gambling lines shift with the betting.

The over/under is now set at 7.00.

Who's taking the over now?

Nope, I want my original combined ERA of 6.50 and I still want the over. BUT I want BS to make things interesting.

At the end of the season whoever is right gets to pic the other's avatar for a month.

Deal?

Well, right. You took the over at 6.50, so that's your bet. But the line moves as a result of your bet so the next person to bet gets a higher over/under to deal with. Maybe the line should only move to about 6.65 or so, but with how dead things are around here, I think 7.00 seems about right.

I am totally ok with this. I think that should count for something.

If you give me 6.51 - 6.75 as a push

Yes, exactly. That's why I did the same thing you did, and said "they're both going to win 20," when clearly I meant "each."

Just to clarify, that was a Suzyn Waldman dig...but now that you mention it I would bet that he wants to come back, particularly for the post season, assuming the Yankees make the post season...since their GM thinks you have the better team and all.

Whatever they do, it appears they'll be doing it without Petitte (unless he appears "in George's Box!" sometime after the All-Star Break).
