Is your brother any good at poker?

Should I put $5 down on him to make it past the first round, or however the hell that thing works?

My brother is the only person that I hate playing against. Counting the 12k package he won the other night he is now up about 35k playing online over the last 3 years.

Also, since this is a gambling thread, someone remind me to bet on Jason Heyward hitting a home run in his first at bat next year. He's now done it in both of his seasons in the majors.

KidT is in the running, but would be doing better if Jarrod Saltalamacchia really was two people, not just enough letters to break into two people. And SoxAroundTheWorld...so close, but Andrew Miller's spring was just as inconsistent and mostly disappointing with flashes of brilliance as the rest of his career.

Does this count as you calling me a douche?

No, but this does:

Who is the douche who picked Jarrod Saltalamacchia to bat both 7th and 8th on opening day, and I how did I get conned into fulfilling his random act of clairvoyance?

Time for the next round.

The next round of picks consists entirely of over/unders: For individual Sox player performance, and for the final records of all 30 teams in MLB. Make your picks here:

In the meantime, if you missed it, the in-progress standings for the opening day picks are here:

https://spreadsheets...M1E&output=html

Remember, whoever wins this whole thing gets some kind of huge prize.

I'll throw one out there. I bet that by the end of the season Ellsbury and Crawford have over 80 stolen bases combined. If someone takes the under and I lose, then you can change my avatar and signature line for a month.

just for the sake of the avatar change i'll take the under...at least have the man with a drink in his hand or a straw up his nose!

To be cut? Oh stop.

Tito wouldn't cut Yaz if he showed up to spring training with his walker and centrum silver. I hear if you grind up centrum silver and snort it, you get hella high*

So far, the impression I'm getting based on the current standings is that the Red Sox are going to win tomorrow 7-4, and Pedroia and Saltalamacchia are going to hit HR.

And if Texas wins, we're all screwed.

Anyone else think it is "odd" that the guy who controls the spreadsheets is the only one with a perfect score? I live in the former Soviet Union. We know a thing or two about manipulating vote counts.

That's because the guy who controls the spreadsheets knew that the Sox would start the season off facing a lefty, and also paid attention to which bullpen pitchers had options left or had signed minor league deals.

If I was going to cheat, I would have done it in the football pool, with real money involved.

I am not a crook.

There's kind of an unwritten rule on this board that we don't make fun of rominer, Commie.

Someone should write it out, pin the thread, and then lock it.

Also, all of you should include that rule in your sigs.

And most importantly, live by it.

I take myself very seriously. You should, too.

So, it would appear as though nobody actually won round 1.

Never thought I'd have to say this, but here goes: Rom, you're being too modest.

17 points is better than 15 points. You won, man. Cheated, but won. Accept, yet again, the accolades of the masses.

So, what do I get for coming in third?

I protest Rom's win until we confirmation on whether or not Manny got arrested for having sex with a tranny.

The right to taunt all those below you.

There is no cop in Texas smart enough to recognize the difference between a tranny and a cowgirl.

Objection withdrawn. Rom is the winner.
