Triples are that odd beast:
singles-just put it in play past the infield, or have speed to beat it out if it's in the infield (or watch it bounce back in THEN start running if you are Manny)
doubles-you can have power and be slow, or no power and be fast
Home Run-just hit it out, baby
Triples-have to stay in play, and you have to be fast, and you have to hit it far enough to make it a long throw. Ellsbury has the the speed, but not the power to hit it to say the triangle.
Still, Papi > Ellsbury for 3B is a bit, um, odd.
